Don has been a lifelong resident of Lawton, Oklahoma. He graduated from MacArthur Senior High in 1978 and earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration and Criminal Justice from Cameron University in 1984.
In 1985, Don began his career with the Lawton Police Department, initially serving as a patrol and traffic officer before taking on the role of Crime Stoppers officer for Southwest Oklahoma. He spent the final decade of his 25-year tenure in the Criminal Investigation Division, specializing in violent crimes against children and adults. It was during this time as a Detective that Don discovered his passion for service, helping others navigate challenges they could not face alone.
Although the work was deeply rewarding, Don’s lack of self-care eventually led to struggles with alcoholism. Through his recovery journey, he embraced the importance of self-care and the steps necessary to achieve and maintain a sober life. Today, Don lives by the principles of recovery, with a steadfast commitment to “carrying the message to the sick and suffering.”
This dedication to service led Don to become the director of Roadback, Inc., a residential treatment facility in Lawton. After Roadback closed in 2023, he joined Catalyst Behavioral Services as the Sober Living Housing Manager.
Don is deeply committed to helping individuals struggling with addiction find hope and reclaim their lives. He lives by the principle, “In order to keep it, I have to give it away,” striving each day to be a source of support and guidance for those in need.
